In this e-folio, we meant to share a little bit of our experience as practitioners. We expect to share some knowledge that we have adquired through this course.

We, also, want to share some of the things we put into practice with our junio high school students. We wanted the best for them, and we wanted them to learn in the best way possible the languague. Knowing that we had made our best effort, we are excited to work with this new knowledge, and to learn from our new students.

Introduction

This blog has been created to show the amazing experience of teaching English at Junior High School level. Being a teacher is not easy, mainly when we talk about teaching a group of teenagers who are eager to learn by getting fun. Why is not easy? Well just think that making teens remain in silence is a big challenge. This e-folio contains everything we have done during this long semester. Here you will find a variety of information such as: resources, lesson plans, classroom activities, materials, methods and teaching techniques, including our own teaching practice at Junior High School level.

Teaching Phylosophy:

Teaching experience:

When teaching junior high students, I could realize that teens are very dinamic. Also, they like to learn by doing the things after the teacher explain the topic. I, as student teacher, can say that the best way for me to clarify doubts is when the student ask for it, telling to them that everybody make mistakes and encouragin them to participate.

Teens do not like to participate because they are afraid of making mistakes, but when you make the others students respect the one who is talking and giving her/his opinion, you are giving them the space to talk and clarify doubts. As you are doing this, students will be able to learn more.

My profile

My name is Ernesto Azucar and I am twenty two years old. I was born in San salvador but I have lived my whole life here in Santa Ana. I am a very friendly guy but at the same time I tend to be very shy. I consider that everything has a purpose in this life, it depends on the way we percieve reality. In order to succeed in life every human being has to set their goals and work harde in order to achieve them. I like the major that I am studying because I like languages and I enjoy speaking in english and in a near future I would like to learn at least two more languages.

My Teaching Practice Experience

This year I had the chance to teach 8th grade students and let me tel you that it wasn´t easy at all. At the beginning my students were very shy and the didn´t like to participate and I was worried about it, then, I changed my methology and the results came very fast. since the very beginning I knew that this teaching practice was going to be a little bit harder than the previous one ( kinder) and so was it but I did my best and I always tried to make my students feel that english is a necessary language and it opens a lot of oportunities in life and with the pass of the days they started to have a different attitude towards the subject, at the sime time they did the things easier for mi because the were cooperating with me ( by speaking, writing, etc) and I have to be honest and say that I really enjoyed this teaching practice because I taught to ESL students and I learn many things from them as well because I consider that a relationship student- Teacher is reciprocal and both parts can learn something new every day and that was my case. Now I hope to have a good experience in my high school teaching practice next semester.

My Profile

Hello, my name is Wilber Eduardo Chavez Vides. I am twenty one years old; I was born in april 22, 1994. I live in Ahuachapan since I was born. I like to practice sports such as soccer, basketball, tennis, handball, and so on. Also, I love to listen to music, especially rock music. One thing that I enjoy so much is to share my knowledge with others. I do not have to much experience as a teacher, but the few times I have had the opportunity to teach, I have enjoyed it. Being a teacher is one of my goals in life; it is maybe crazy, but I want to be a teacher. If someday I have the opportunity to teach, I will teach with joy.

To teach is the center of to learn.

My Experience As Teacher

Being a teacher is not easy because a teacher must know how to control a group of students. It does not matter if there are five or forty students in a classroom, a teacher has to keep the control of the. class. For me, it was kind of hard to take the role of a teacher because my students were almost always hyperactive, and at the beginning I did not know how to control them. My students were polite, but sometimes they behaved as children. I remember once when two girls were talking and talking, and I told them, please be quite. I said the same thing many times and the girls continued talking. So, I got angry because the girls were laughing of me. I had to take them with the principal, It was a bad situation, and I did not know what to do. Later on, I talked to all my students about respect, and they understood. fortunately they started to behave better and we became friends.

This experience of being a teacher was awesome, I had some complications, but I learnt from them. I knew that taking the role of a teacher was not easy, but I took the challenge. My students learnt from me, as well as I learnt from them. Now I definitely know that I want to be a teacher, and I will fight for my dream.

Some of my students and I.
this was the last class I taught. They were my students, and I was so glad to be their teacher. I am never going to forget them.
There, I am with Nathaly. She was one of the best students I had in the classroom. Nathaly always was polite with me and their classmates.

Every child should have a caring adult in their lives. And that's not always a biological parent or family member. It may be a friend or neighbor. Often times it is a teacher.

Lesson Plan

In this class I taught to my students the most important places of the city. The class was totally awesome because the students understood everything. We also had fun with some activities.

Learning languages, reading, dancing and going out with friends.

Teaching Philosophy:

"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. There's no way of education without enjoying it"

Teaching Experience:

Teaching English to adolescents was one of the most important experiences for me since I love teaching. They are very restless. Therefore, sometimes I got tired and stressed with classroom management. But this cannot being compared with the satisfation I felt at the end of the day. Hopefully, they learned very fast that made easier my tasks, but the best part of it was that I also learned from them. Sometimes what teenagers needs is just a little patient. They enjoy learning and having fun at the same time. That's why in every single class I had a game or wram up not just for keeping their attention but also for teaching them in a funny way. Clearly, It was such an amazing experience. I as a teacher in process had the opportunity not just to teach teens, but to form trustworthy citizens.

My biography

My name is Jessica Beatriz Rodríguez López. I am 22 years old, and I was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador. I consider myself as a friendly, responsible and optimistic girl. Some of my hobbies are reading books, dancing, going out with my friends, spending time with my family, listening to music, among others. Besides, I am a girl who likes to learn new things each day, who likes to laugh every single day, and who does not like to complicate life for anything. Also, I am a lover of languages, and that is the main reason I am studying the major of Licenciatura en Idioma Inglés, Opción: Enseñanza. I really love what I am studying, and some of my goals are to get my undergraduate degree, to become a good and unique teacher, and to travel around the world. So I hope to achieve every goal I have set in my life. To sum it up, I can say that my teaching philosophy is "To teach, is to touch a life forever".

My Teaching Experience

My teaching experience in Junior High School was really helpful, interesting, and pleasant, but at the same time, I could realize how difficult and compromising is to be a good teacher. During my teaching experience I could learn many things about the teenagers' behavior and the way in which we have to solve some of the most common troubles with them. Also, in my teaching experience, I could realize about my strengths and weaknesses in teaching. I think that some of my strengths in teaching are the creativity and variety of the classes. I think that my teaching is more successful if I work with different activities; working in small groups, analyses, solving tasks, and motivating teenagers participation helped me to get better results.

In my opinion, the characteristics of good teaching are the motivation, interest and effort that the teacher has in doing his/her material. All this is reflected in the way and kind of activities that the teacher prepares for his/her students.

My experience when working with teenagers was pretty good, but I know I have to work more and harder in order to become an excellent teacher in a near future.

My Teaching Experience in Junior High School

Some material I used to work with my students

These are some of the worksheets I gave to my students in order to see if they had understood the topics I had explained in the different classes. Some of the topics we studied were "Going to", "Subject and Object Pronouns", "Superlatives", among others. At the end of all, I could see my students understood the majority of topics.

Subject Pronouns (<- Here)

This was the class I enjoyed the most because the students were eager to participate. They really liked the practice, and asked questions when they did not understand. Also, they answered the question I did in the wrap-up.

This was the class I did not like because the students were getting bored. They worked and did the things I asked, but they did not like the classes where they had to learn new vocabulary. They were saying that the teacher always gave a lot of vocabulary, and they did not like thar.

Lesson Plans

There are many classes I liked. But this lesson plan shows one of the best classes. Students started enjoying it from the "Warm Up" which was about a game called "Pictionary". They hadn't heard about it; therefore, they enjoyed using the structure through this game. In that way, they understood the following minutes. They also learned how to use the topic in context through a dialogue. They finished playing "Hot Potato". Indeed, it was a fruitful and funny day.

Personally, I did not like this class because students made a mess in "The broken phone". That happened since they were too many students.
